Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the interprofessional collaboration experiences among community mental health professionals.
Methods: A qualitative research design was adopted. Nine community mental health professionals (four nurses, three social workers, and two clinical psychologists) working in local community were interviewed. Interview transcripts were analyzed using a theme analysis method suggested by Braun and Clarke.
Results: Five theme clusters were derived: Boundary of my area of expertise wobbles, become a part of a team, personal competence is more important than a profession, influenced by the leader's working style, and expect conditions for better team collaboration.
Conclusion: The results of this study showed that institutional and policy support are required for interprofessional collaboration. In the future, a better community mental health services could be provided through research to promote interprofessional collaboration.
